Manga Publishing, the dirty secrets! Now we know, you have all wondered… “Why isn’t my favorite manga updated?!” “When will it be updated?!” “It’s been weeks/days/months…” (sometimes even years)
WWWave Corporation (also WWWave Corp of America) was established in 2010 with the goal of creating new and exciting ways to enjoy various times of entertainment. With a history in the anime and manga, WWWave quickly established a manga publishing department and a Japanese digital manga website, ComicFesta.
WWWave Comics
WWWave was named after the love for the ocean, also one of the reason why the company mascot and site mascots are all sea creatures, and yes, it really is 3 “W”s. Why? Well… cause it’s making a wwwave. That’s why.
Our wwwave comics department consists of 6 different labels, each catering to different unique genres of manga. All the comics from wwwave comics are created, published, and distributed not only on our ComicFesta site but also on our English partner site, Coolmic. That’s us!
Our label catering to the female reader with romance stories that will make your heart skip wwwaves.
A label with only a few titles still, but one that focuses on BROMANCE! Everyone needs a good old locker room smack on the…!
Another dive into the romance genre with an emphasis on the hot, sexy men. They only get hotter with looooove! Like in Love Gamble with the Mafia!
Don’t sue us! We love romance! These are romances with a BACKstory. You know, Cinderella type stories and love will save the day!
Probably our most famous label, Comic Goichi! Known for many top sellers on both our Japanese and English websites as well as manga that has been adapted into anime! From Adam’s Sweet Agony, that was released in January. Making a big… splash…
From Girls Love (GL) titles, to suspense titles, to mystery titles, and even some ecchi titles… Just about anything that can wet your tongue can be found here!
Also home to a lot of popular titles with many works featuring aspects of the type shonen manga!
Manga Publishing
Against popular belief, manga is NOT generally published on a WEEKLY basis. Many of us have come accustomed to the really popular titles being released weekly. Reports when the author is sicks. Or when the manga goes on hiatus.
(one famous title has gone on hiatus about a hundred times now due to the authors health coughhunterxhuntercough)
The manga work is pretty difficult. Not only do artists work long hours, get paid little if the titles don’t sell… Selling the titles themself is also very difficult! In Japan, it’s common knowledge that manga doesn’t come out on a regular basis. It is very much “when it comes out, it comes out” kind of thinking.
At WWWave, as well as many other smaller publishers, manga is produced as a volume. For artists, this means many pages. Many hours. And usually takes 3~6 months to produce. But if it doesn’t sell, it doesn’t continue. That’s the harsh reality of the manga world.
・“Why isn’t my favorite manga updated?!”
Simple put, because it isn’t made yet. Most publishers don’t know the health or circumstances of the authors. We don’t generally get updates on what’s going on. Sometimes we know when an author is sick or needs more time to make the episodes (chapters, volumes).
WEEKLY chapters is a dream world for most publishers. It just isn’t possible for most. Not only the publisher but also the artists!
We all wish we had the budget, the resources, the titles that everyone loves like Shonen Jump but… We chose to focus on more niche genres! There’s a love, a want, and a need for things that aren’t just isekai fantasy, super heroes, and battle manga.
Support your favorite artists by actually purchasing their work and you’ll be more likely to see new episodes, chapters, volumes, or even anime releases.
If you don’t buy, they can’t create.
